Attending a wedding fair can be an exciting yet potentially daunting experience! With so many things to consider – and different suppliers to interact with – time can go very quickly indeed. It’s a wise idea to attend a wedding fair with a firm idea of what you want to achieve and the questions that need to be asked to do so!
We will be holding our next wedding fair on Sunday 26th November, so take a moment to browse our guide to the “5 questions you should always ask at a wedding fair.” It may just help you to make those all-important decisions without months of deliberating and stress!
Yes, this does seem like an obvious place to start. But you would be surprised by how many couples neglect to confirm this at the earliest point possible. Ideally, you will have a selection of dates that can work for you but if you have made a firm commitment to just one – be sure to make this known right from the very start. It would be heartbreaking to make great connections with local florists, photographers and musicians – not to mention the wedding venue – only to find out that your desired date isn’t feasible.
Be sure to get a feel for potential suppliers by viewing their portfolio of past weddings. Be wary of anyone who cannot provide you with this information as it may mean that they have limited experience in their field. At our wedding fair on Sunday 26th November, only our must trusted suppliers will be exhibiting so you can be sure that you will be dealing with professionals at the top of their game. The Olde Bell will be dressed for a wedding with both the Victorian Malt House and our historic Tudor Tithe Barn open to be viewed. This is our way of conveying what the venue could look like on your special day but of course, every wedding is unique so we encourage couples to discuss their own ideas so that we can customise as much as possible to suit individual requirements.
It may seem premature to discuss cost from the off set but this is absolutely imperative. Before falling in love with the work of a certain photographer, cake maker or florist – it makes sense to ensure that their estimate falls within your budget. After all, there is plenty of choice out there so it’s best to get the basics nailed down before too much is discussed. An honest guideline of costs will allow you to plan accordingly and ensure that there are no hidden extras that may cause you stress further down the line!
Most wedding suppliers will have worked with other businesses in the local area and this can really aid the smooth running of your big day! A recommendation from a supplier that you have trust in is worth its weight in gold so it’s good to find out “who knows who” at a local wedding fair. At the Olde Bell, we will be delighted to talk you through whom we have experience of working with and can happily recommend a wide range of potential suppliers.
Many suppliers (including those exhibiting at our wedding fair on the 26th November) will offer discounts if you book their services there and then. But before you do this, be sure you have asked all of the questions above and are happy with what you will be receiving. Sometimes the discount offered will be well worth it, but in other cases, it may be best to take a little more time before making a firm commitment.
Planning your big day should be a fun, exciting experience and attending a wedding fair is often the first step a couple makes towards getting the ball rolling. By taking some time to nail down what you really want to get out of a wedding fair, you can make the event work as well as possible for you.
