Created by Ilse Crawford (portfolio includes Soho House New York, Cecconis, Grand Hotel Stockholm and more), the re-invention of the traditional English Inn; The Olde Bell is not a hotel where the rooms dominate, but where the common spaces are the heartbeat of the place. The buildings function almost like a village in itself; the main building for the overnight guests and locals, and the auxiliary buildings for private gatherings. The Inns are engagingly English; like a family of individuals, as opposed to an identikit roll out.

The Olde Bell has had a brightly coloured past, from the site of a plot to overthrow the monarchy, to housing meetings involving Churchill and Eisenhower, to being a regular spot for movie stars such as Elizabeth Taylor. Through-out its life however, it has consistently been a public house for locals and travellers alike.
