From Our Patch To Your Plate
Curious guests will undoubtedly stumble upon the charm of the kitchen garden at some point during their stay. Framed by a gentle archway entwined with pretty vines, an abundance of fruit, vegetables and herbs is enclosed within the romantic brick walls that border the garden.
Due to a strong desire to restore the spirit of the inn to that of times gone by, it is part of the Olde Bell’s ethos to be largely self-sufficient. Because of this, a large proportion of the fruit and vegetables that arrive on a guest’s plate have been sourced directly from the inn’s own kitchen garden.
The greenhouse situated within the gardens is home to a huge variety of herbs, plants and fruit that fragrance the air with their heady aroma. There is something rather enchanting about the colours and warmth of this plant-house – an obvious labour of love for the gardeners who tend to it.
As the seasons change – vibrantly ripe tomatoes, wickedly hot chillies and the freshest of mint will all make their appearance on the menu. From delicious pumpkins to the juiciest of strawberries, produce from the Kitchen Gardens will frequently feature in the scrumptious pies, soups and platters that we serve throughout the year.
Following a hearty meal, guests are welcome to explore the extensive grounds of the inn where proud gardeners will be only too pleased to reveal the secrets behind their work…
